Yamīra (Mira Dietl) was born into music and has played both classical violin and folk music from a young age – but above all, she has always improvised. Communicating through music, listening, understanding, resonating, sharing something that goes beyond language; this has always fascinated Yamīra. After studying music therapy, she travelled through the Balkans, Greece, Macedonia and Turkey as a street musician, expanding her musical vocabulary and awakening her interest in ritual music, such as that of the Sufi and later also the Gnawa culture.
The journey of discovery never ends for Yamīra and you can hear that in her music.
